I write remediation scopes, so I need defensible documentation, not just a nice picture. The Moisture Detect preset plus the Suspect flag gives me a consistent read across every estimate, and because it lives on my phone I can shoot, mark it up with the area and line tools, and have a thermal image in the estimate before I leave the driveway. I had a basement job in September reading 12 degrees below the surrounding wall across a 6 foot band, clearly active, confirmed with a pin meter. The 512x384 detail matters here because I often need to show a client the edge of a wet zone, and at lower resolution that boundary simply is not there. Accu Studio lets me lay the images out with temperature callouts next to the written scope, which is the part adjusters actually respond to.

Hardware first. This is seriously impressive. I found two cold spots in my attic insulation and a hot breaker in my panel within the first hour. Image quality at 512x384 is on another level from the cheap phone modules I have tried, and the sensitivity means you can see faint differences on a wall that just look like flat color on other units. It is light, it plugs straight in, and it never needs charging. The reason this is not five stars is the AccuHeat app. There is a lot of capability in there and the interface does not do much to help you find it. It took me several sessions to work out the difference between the presets and manual level and span, and where the emissivity settings live. The documentation is thin. On the desktop side Accu Studio is genuinely good for reports once you get there, but I had to supply my own USB-C cable to connect to my laptop, which is not called out anywhere obvious. None of this makes me want to return it. The thermal performance earns its keep, but better onboarding and an included cable would make it a five.

Refrigeration tech here. What I need is to inspect a rack from a safe distance without opening anything, and to see a 2 or 3 degree difference on a suction line. This does both. Level and span control is the reason I bought it. You set the window tight and everything outside it goes uniform, so the one bad valve is the only thing lit up on screen. I use the spot and line measurement constantly for pull down checks, and setting emissivity per material means I stop correcting readings in my head. The range covers everything I touch, from a walk in freezer to a condenser. It is 25 grams, it lives in my shirt pocket, and it has never needed charging because it runs off the phone. Solid build as well, it has been dropped twice already.

We do residential solar and I use this on every commissioning walk. The Solar Panel preset gets you into a workable palette immediately, and a hot spot check across a string takes minutes instead of the half hour it used to take with a clamp and a lot of walking. The electrical panel side is just as useful. I found a double tapped breaker feeding an EV charger running more than 40 degrees over ambient, and the alarm caught it while I was writing on my clipboard. The 512x384 sensor with the deep learning upscaling is noticeably cleaner on small components than what I was using before. It runs off the phone, so there is no battery to worry about in a truck that sits in the sun all day. Two of my guys have bought their own since.

I run blower door and thermal audits for a living and have been through three generations of phone modules. NETD is the spec that actually matters when you are imaging a wall at a 10 to 15 degree indoor outdoor delta, and 20mK is the difference between a smeared blob and being able to trace the exact path of an air leak. Against the 70mK class modules I have tested this is not a subtle gap. I audited a 1960s ranch last month and mapped three separate bypasses around a chase that the homeowner had already paid someone to seal. The 512x384 sensor with UIRA-IR on held detail on the rim joists even in Fusion mode. Accu Studio on the laptop is what makes it usable for client work, I build the report with images, notes and temperatures in one place and export without touching another tool.
