I'm absolutely blown away by this thermal imager.
It has been decades since I used one, and the technology in this is incredible! For context, I am in a home that is 55 years old and the average lifespan of these homes is only 50 years.
We had a 3 season porch that had to be completely replaced because a leak was not detected until there was too much rot inside of the walls.
Since then, I've wondered "what else" might turn up too late? So, as soon as this arrived I got to work with it.
I'm definitely still learning, but I can already share quite a bit: the controls are intuitive.
We are able to see all of the temperature differences and even visualize the joists with amazing accuracy.
I tested out the moisture sensor on an area with a known leak, not currently dripping, and it did mark it as suspect! I'm stoked that it found that.
So I set off going around the house and may have found another place with too much moisture under a window.
There are no outside indicators yet, so we would not have found that.
I also learned that it's probably time to reseal the ceiling in the pool room, as that ceiling was showing moisture even though the pool is covered and the air system is on.
This device is an investment that may quickly pay for itself; whether it's finding small fixes before they are big problems, gaining peace of mind, or as a side gig.
We haven't learned the electrical detection yet, and of course that will be next as the old wires scare me as much as potential hidden moisture/mold.
I highly recommend this device.
I'd expect every home/building inspector to have one, and I can't think of a better housewarming gift.
It comes with the charging cord and a well designed carry bag with a shoulder strap.
The housing feels solid and seems very durable.
This unit can be operated with one hand.
I have very small hands and I am able to use it comfortably.
My partner has large hands and also finds it comfortable.
We are able to capture photos and videos and export those with the included cable.
On Windows 10 the device shows up and the folders appear empty.
Go instead to the additional USB drive that shows up, and that's where your images are.
Note that you cannot capture images while it is connected to a pc, so this may not be the best choice for areas that cannot be directly seen.
This is a little different than some scopes that we have.
There is a work-around though, by setting the configuration to automatically capture the pictures that you need based on your concerns (i.
e, capture a photo if a certain temperature threshold is detected).
I did scan this device upon connecting it, and no malware was found.
It does have an FCC ID.
All in all, I enthusiastically and completely recommend this device.

I'd been wanting a handheld thermal imager for around-the-house projects for quite a while, but never got around to buying one until this model came along.
Like the major brands, it's a self-contained handheld unit with a built-in screen and internal memory.
You can capture images using the trigger on the handle and then transfer them to your computer.
I've attached a sample thermal image of our cat taken directly from the device with no editing.
The kit includes a carrying case with a shoulder strap, a wrist strap for the camera itself, and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable.
The USB-C port, located under a protective rubber cover, is used for both charging and transferring images.
When connected to a computer, the camera prompts you to select the USB mode, and the default option worked perfectly for downloading photos.
The camera offers several preset "usage scenes," including moisture detection, home insulation, professional insulation, professional moisture, floor heating, solar panels, electrical troubleshooting, and a custom mode.
I found myself using the custom mode most often for general tasks like checking HVAC vents and looking for drafts around windows and sliding doors.
You can also choose from several color palettes, ranging from a traditional thermal display to a rainbow palette that makes temperature differences very easy to see.
The camera also lets you set the measurement distance and had no trouble detecting heat differences even at longer distances.
For example, I was able to clearly see how much heat a nearby metal roof was retaining compared with the surrounding area.
Overall, this is an impressive thermal imager that performs well and includes plenty of useful features.
Unless you're specifically looking for a premium name-brand model, I think this offers excellent value for homeowners, DIYers, and anyone interested in thermal imaging.

I have used thermal cameras that cost tens of thousands of dollars and I have you some that cost under $200.
Most people are probably shopping on the lower end of that price range.
I liked some of the cheaper units I used, but they definitely had drawbacks compared to the high end units I'm used to.
I was really excited to try this one and I was pleasantly surprised with how much better it is than the cheap units.
The price of this thermal camera is still reasonable, but the resolution, speed, accuracy, and overall usability of this camera as far superior to the cheap ones I have tried.
These are great if you are inspecting a house and trying to look at insulation, water leaks, wiring, or anything else that may generate heat.
Overall I'm very happy with the performance of this unit and I think it is worth spending a little extra to get this one because it performs so much better than some of the others I have used.
I would definitely order this again.
Another nice thing about this one is that it does come with a small soft-sided carrying case.
I personally prefer hard cases better, but this one is simple and makes it easy to carry the camera on the go and keep it protected would not in use.
